Wonderful series!

Wow, I loved this book!!!. I love the series so far and I hope it keeps going but this was the best! I don't usually leave book reviews but I just had to gush about this one. I am a fan of Highland Historical romances and my friend and I trade back and forth and she gave me the Highwayman to read and I loved that so I got her next two books the hunter and the highlander. The Hunter tho I have gone back to again and now I am getting ready to read the whole series again.
Kerrigan is a great writer she really did so well developing this character who was introduced in the Highwayman. You really get to understand the bond between him and Dorian the main character in the Highwayman I love that we get to see more of Dorian and Farah's story in this book. Christopher Argent the H in this book is so damaged because of his childhood and all the abuse and torture etc he endured in prison. He is an assasin and does not mind his work He is hired to kill the h in this book and can't go through with it and becomes her and her son's protector. The scenes with him and the son are priceless. The H has a hard time dealing with his attraction and his feelings towards the h. He is used to not feeling anything so he is clueless about what is happening to him and he doesn't like it. He is losing himself. His journey with this wonderful woman and her son who offer him a chance at redemption and love is so moving. I like stories where people see the diamond in the rough and are willing to make the effort to get over the damaged flawed persons walls. I absolutely love love love the ending it is priceless and perfect. This has great character building and a great journey along with suspense, murder, mystery etc. It wasn't hard to figure out who the villians were but it was great anyway. It's funny how you don't mind the bad guys getting what they deserve. I hope we get to see more of Christopher and Millie in the Duke I loved their appearance in the Highlander. Can't wait for the Duke!!!

I love historical romances! I read the first book in this series and loved it. I was looking forward to reading Argent's story, and the book had an intriguing and uncommon premise - hero takes contract to kill heroine but finds he can't go through with it. The hero, Christopher Argent, was fantastic - handsome and deadly, very compelling. He and the heroine had good chemistry. The storyline was complex and unpredictable. I love this author's writing style, intense and gripping. My only problem with this book is that I never connected with the heroine, Millie LeCour. She was beautiful, but she wasn't all that smart or strong or mature. Her name conjured up a mental image of a plump, happy upstairs maid, and her behavior was about the same. She just didn't stand out to me, and I couldn't understand how she would attract a character like Argent when no one else ever had. He deserved a better heroine than Millie. Having said that, this was a good book, and I enjoyed reading it. Can't wait to read book three!

Only Kerrigan Byrne can make a story about an assassin be so totally tear-jerking and amazing. Christopher Argent is hired to kill the actress Millie LeCour. Instead he falls in love with her (even if he doesn't know what it is to love). Born and raised in prison, Christopher is an ice cold killer - who has no heart until he meets Millie. Then instead of killing her he decides to protect her against any other assassins who might come after her and her young son.
Reading about how Christopher relates to Millie as well as her son Jakub was a heart-wrenching experience. I cried more than once at how hard it is for Christopher to open his heart and his life to the two of them. It takes almost losing them to realize that he can't live without them.
This isn't a feel-goof Happily Ever After kind of story. The characters work hard to get their ending but it is worth every minute of the story.
